Valley is impacted by a nationwide shortage of IV fluids as a result of Hurricane Helene. We are watching the situation closely and working hard to conserve available supplies, but because of the shortage, we may need to reschedule non-emergency surgeries or change some of our hospital procedures. We are committed to continuing to give all patients the highest quality of care. We appreciate your understanding and hope to be back to normal operations soon.
Infusion therapy is an effective way to administer medications to patients who cannot be treated efficiently with oral medications. Located on the main floor of Valley Medical Center (3B) our accredited Infusion and Immunotherapy Center offers a wide variety of treatments for cancer, dehydration, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, migraine headaches and other conditions requiring infusion therapy. Depending on what type of infusion you receive, your stay at the Infusion and Immunotherapy Center may be as little as 30 minutes or as long as 12 hours. Our dedicated pharmacists and registered nurses (RNs) oversee the delivery of treatment: our goal is to make your time with us as comfortable as possible, while providing you with safe, quality and compassionate care.
Our Team Approach to Chemotherapy:
We take a multidisciplinary approach to developing a personalized treatment plan for each patient. If chemotherapy is part of your treatment plan:
Additional Services Offered at our Infusion and Immunotherapy Center Include:
All procedures require pre-authorization from your insurance company, 2-14 days in advance of your scheduled treatment. You will receive a phone call from our patient access associates as soon as we receive authorization for your treatment.
Please expect an automated reminder all prior to your scheduled treatment to confirm your appointment. Please call us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule your treatment.
Because infusion medications vary in administration time and the Infusion and Immunotherapy Center schedules patients based on the anticipated infusion time, it is important for you to be on time for your appointment. Kiosks are available for easy check-in. Once you have completed checking in, please proceed through the double doors to get your wristband from the front desk.
After checking in, you will be escorted to your treatment room. The room includes storage for your personal belongings and a shared bathroom. A nurse will check your blood pressure, height, weight, and medical history.
We strive to keep our infusion spaces a healing environment. As such, we have limited space for visitors. Only one visitor is allowed per patient. Due to the hazardous medications being administered in the Infusion and Immunotherapy Center, children 12 years and younger are not allowed in the infusion rooms.
Infusion and Immunotherapy Center observes the Valley Medical Center policy regarding animals. Only service animals are allowed access to areas of Valley open to the public, except in spaces where the treatment of the patient or other patients would be compromised by the service animal’s presence.
A service animal may accompany an individual into the waiting room of an ambulatory care area. A service animal will not be permitted into the treatment room of an ambulatory care area if the presence of the service animal compromises the treatment of a patient.
Please call us at 425.228.3440 if you have any questions about bringing your service animal.
Please be open and honest with the staff about how your treatment is going and how you are feeling. You will find that you will have good days and bad days. We are here for you and your care. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your medical team.
While in the Infusion and Immunotherapy Center, you may have many questions. Please discuss any questions with your infusion nurse. If they are not able to answer your question, it will be relayed to the appropriate staff or physician for an answer as soon as possible. If a concern arises at home, please call us at 425.228.3440 or write it down to ask at your next appointment.
Please arrange to have an escort available at the end of your treatment. At the time of your discharge, your nurse will provide you and your escort with important information about your treatment and discharge instructions. If you are given a medication to help you relax (sedative) during your treatment, you will be required to have a responsible person drive you home.
